Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
•     manage Uniform Commercial Code and account contract dispute cases
•     manage consumer residential lending cases
•     manage other types of financial services litigation
•     develop effective strategy  for prosecution or defense of client
•     coordinate discovery production with client and outside counsel
•     assist in trial preparation
•     control outside counsel costs
•     manage client expectations
•     prepare status reports to clients
 

Qualifications

Candidate must possess:
•     strong writing skills
•     strong communication skills
•     strong leadership skills
•     strong decision making skills
•     a team member attitude and
•     the ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
Successful candidate should have 5-7 years of actual litigation experience.
This should include:
•     motion practice and some trial experience
•     some lead counsel experience
•     negotiating favorable settlements
•     responsibility for handling a significant caseload
•     reporting responsibility to senior partner or client
•     experience in providing defensible recommendations to client
•     background in banking, real estate, consumer lending required
•     corporate clients or in-house counsel experience is a plus
Michigan Bar License required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



Advise and partner with business line executives in the Wealth Management and Broker~Dealer areas;

Provide advice relating to the broker~dealer, CCO Investment Services Corp. (CCOISC) and Premier Banking, Private Bank and Trust and retirement plan services businesses;

Work closely with bank counsel to ensure bank brokerage activities comply with Regulations R and W;

Advise CCOISC's compliance department regarding regulatory issues and supervision;

Negotiate and document all broker~dealer selling agreements and Wealth Management escrow and trust agreements;

Manage outside counsel on all litigation and arbitration proceeding affecting the broker~dealer.


Qualifications

JD with 10+ years related experience with a top law firm or financial services company;
Strong knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework governing Wealth Management and broker~dealer areas;
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
Experience working with all levels of senior management;

This senior attorney will support the Consumer and Business Banking businesses, specificially supporting one or more of the following: Auto Lending, Education Finance, Credit Card and or Mortgage.
