As a member of the RBS Americas Anti-Money Laundering Quality Assurance team, the Compliance Quality Assurance Officer (“QA Officer”) is responsible for planning, executing, evaluating and advancing of periodic quality assurance reviews of key compliance controls and processes of RBS Americas, including RBS NV and CFG.  The QA Officer also maintains on-going working relationship with the reviewed businesses and units and assists the management in improvement and maintenance of robust compliance controls and processes.  Primary responsibilities include:

• Plan and independently conduct annual risk assessments for Anti-Money Laundering and economic sanctions controls. Record the results and maintain adequate records as required; ensure timely completion. 

• Work with the responsible business and compliance management to develop compliance risk monitoring process based on the results of the annual risk assessment.  Conduct the monitoring activities as required, record the results and maintain adequate records as required; ensure timely completion.

• Work with the responsible business and compliance management to analyze the results of the monitoring activities, and arrive to mutually agreed solutions and assist the management in developing adequate corrective actions, when needed. 

• Continue to monitor implementation of any corrective actions and engage with the management, acting as a consultative resource.  Escalate any issues to the Director of the Quality Assurance team and compliance heads as appropriate. 

• Take ownership and monitor the risk environment during the year to account for changes in business, products offering and structure, results of internal and external reviews, and developments in the regulatory environment, and make changes to the risk assessments as needed. 

• Assess internal procedures and controls of the areas subject to compliance risk monitoring process and recommend opportunities for improvements or training, if needed.  Escalate any new or emerging issues. 

• Proactively identify emerging and potential risks and conduct ad-hoc reviews, tests and interviews and make recommendations as needed to assist AML and business management in monitoring and maintaining strong risk environment.
 

Qualifications

Experienced compliance, control or audit professional, with five years of industry experience, and solid understanding of operational and control processes in a banking environment. 

Solid AML and economic sanctions knowledge

Proven ability to work collaboratively and persuasively across the organization to develop working relations with reviewed businesses and units to act as a consultative source and influencer. 

Demonstrated track record of being an independent self-starter, with ability to work in unstructured environment proactively identifying emerging issues and potential new risks.  At the same time needs to be able to follow the rules and testing and recordkeeping requirements. 

Diligent, organized and detail oriented, but at the same time possessing analytical skills and ability to think strategically about a big picture.

Hours per Week:   40

Work Schedule:    Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
