Responsibilities

Responsible for certain elements of HLS Strategy as it relates to the management and development of strategic programs and products (both mortgage and equity) needed to meet the company’s growth objectives and risk profile. Evaluate competitive needs based on sales input while balancing risk appetite for portfolio or private investors as applicable and assist in determining profitability and incremental volume impact.  Leverage strategic thinking and business growth needs to identify unique but sound opportunities in products and programs.  Manage recurrent competitor surveys to monitor the competition. Identify and evaluate emerging market trends in residential lending and staying abreast of industry opportunities to improve the customer experience and competitive landscape for HLS and the bank.  This includes programs that augment cross sell opportunities and identifying customer segments that align with bank growth and profitability within risk model. Monitor private investor market for program offerings, features, products and credit policy gaps particularly related to wealth/jumbo and first time homebuyer segments.  Participate in cross-collaboration with Capital Markets, Credit Risk, Treasury, Finance and HLS Senior Leadership on periodic strategic analysis of loan sales/purchase opportunities as identified or directed. Focus on broad secondary market impacts to the business including operating changes (such as from Dodd-Frank), and regulatory landscape that could impact risk appetite.  Monitor existing programs for performance and on-going risk assessment with changing economic conditions and operating model changes. Lead project management effort to develop new, complex products that require cross-functional teams across organization.  Facilitate engagement of required stakeholders and thorough / timely review to ensure high quality output and reasonable time to market. Partner with HLS senior management, sales, credit risk and other internal partners to review product development and program initiatives particularly leveraging portfolio opportunities Lead special projects for the Secondary Marketing department as assigned leveraging the various expertise required that could include a combination of product, operational, marketing, financial and pricing knowledge. Provide technical product knowledge assistance to marketing in support of product training to loan production and operations staff.  
  

Qualifications

 Minimum 10 years mortgage banking experience with minimum 5 years secondary market experience with focus on product and project management for mortgage and equity programs, with an emphasis on portfolio program strategic initiatives.  This includes ability to lead multiple and complex new product launches through excellent project management skills.  Must have in-depth subject matter expertise that provides for both the identification of strategic opportunities and the ability to tactically deploy these programs. Excellent understanding of all risks associated with mortgage and equity functions.  Some knowledge of pricing required with an ability to identify risks and profitability opportunities within products.  Identify market opportunities to maintain or achieve competitiveness for sales force.  Perform research and development, including financial analysis and presentations to executive management to support business case for strategic programs Product Rule and guideline interpretation and communication experience a must. Mortgage product experience required, equity product experience preferred. Mortgage operational background required.  Sales exposure preferred. Project management is key including process improvement, working with other departments and SMEs to coordinate and implement new products, product changes or special projects. Superior relationship management and collaboration skills required across multiple business lines and within various departments of Portfolio Optimization/Secondary Marketing.  Must demonstrate resourcefulness in a respectful manner at all times, earning confidence and admiration of colleagues. Credit policy experience preferred particularly as it relates to augmenting growth without compromising risk in the development of program initiatives. Ideal candidate must act with a sense of urgency, establishing a clear plan, quickly and effectively gaining agreement in the plan and then leading a cross-functional business team to deliver against the plan. Ability to advocate and influence senior leaders and support partners to support new program initiatives and product development projects. Ability to instinctively identify roadblocks and work independently towards resolution. Manages time well Strong analytical acumen Ability to multi-task. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness Able to adapt to changes or unexpected events. Working knowledge of all standard Windows and Microsoft Office software a must.
